Introduction

We have been custom t-shirts printing for the past 10 years.  From our humble beginnings in a cafe basement, we have grown to a substantial studio in central Manchester.  T-shirt printing alone makes up half of our business so we have plenty of experience to help you make your perfect custom t-shirt.  Previous customers include Umbro, Reebok and Nike.  A decent line up of names!

How

We use a Hopkins Manual press in the studio which is super reliable.  It has 6 platens for the t-shirts and 6 heads to put the screens which means we can print up to 6 colour t-shirts.  The normal output though is usually 1 or 2 colours.  By changing the platen we can print different types of garments including women’s t-shirts, children’s clothing, tote bags and sweatshirts.  To create the t-shirt we need to make a screen which we then push ink through.

After years of testing different makes of ink we stuck with Permaset.  There are inks called Plastisol which are plastic based but here at one69a, we wanted to be as ethical as possible so we went on the hunt for the best water-based inks on the market.  Permaset are an Australian company who mix a great selection of colours.  They are Soil Association accredited and are really hard-wearing.  I have t-shirts I wear to print in which were made over 7 years ago which still have amazing colour!

T-shirts

When it comes to buying blank t-shirts in for your job, we have various wholesalers at our disposal.  A lot of people are interested in value so our go-to t-shirt is the Gildan Premium Cotton Ringspun.  Of the lower end shirts, this is quality, a nice shape, fairly thick (185gsm) and good in the wash.  For something a bit nicer we go for the Russel Classic Heavy T-shirt, they don’t have the largest of colour ranges but do have quality for a good price.  If it is Eco, fair-trade and organic you would like then we suggest looking at Continental Clothing.  They have a massive range of t-shirts and other garments, all made to a great standard and are better for the planet than most.  If you would like any samples, drop us an email on studio@one69a.com

DTG (Direct to Garment)

The newest member to the one69A family is our Epson 2100 DTG machine.  We have not given her a name yet but she is an absolute beauty.  With screen printing you need to pay for setup costs for each colour in your design.  The DTG can print one-off, full-colour custom t-shirts printing without any setup fees.  These are absolute quality!  The resolution the machine can print to is outstanding and Epson have a long history for making the highest quality products.  That means the ink is the top of the game.  These t-shirts can be washed the same as a screen printed custom t-shirt and look great!

Conclusion

Whatever you would like to get printed, drop us a line.  We will always give you the best value so if your job is cheaper with the DTG we will price for that, the same goes with screen printing.  If it makes sense to screen print it we will get that sorted for you.  Both forms of printing give you the most amazing custom t-shirts ready for your next event, clothing line or sports club.  No job is too small or too big for us here at one69A Mancheter Screen Printers.
