Home Educators, The Whitworth Art Gallery

As part of our work with the Home Educators Group at the Whitworth Art Gallery, we have been delivering sessions which are inspired by and encourage the exploration of the current We Face Forward exhibition.

In this session, we explored the theme of journey’s within the exhibition and how text tells the story of a person, a moment in time or depicts an image. By using words found within the exhibition, we asked people to create prints onto recycled fabric which has also been on a journey of it’s very own.

The fabric we used were left overs from a huge piece made by Victoria Undondian (image below). This fabric was sent to West Africa in the form of clothing donations from Europe, it has then been used by Victoria to create her work and bought back to Europe.

We are hoping exhibit the prints in the restaurant at the gallery.
