Introduction to Screen Printing – 6 Week Course (photosensitive process)

This 6 week course introduces and explores the technique of setting images onto silk screens using the photo sensitive process. You will have the opportunity to take your designs, drawings and ideas and transform them into screen prints. You will learn how to print two colour designs onto stock and single colour designs onto textiles and stock. There will be a range of fabric, papers, card, tshirts and tote bags for you to use within the course fee.

The course is a great introduction to screen printing and allows you to get to grips with a basic understanding of the process. It is also a good starting point to show you how simple it can be to build a basic screen printing set up in your studio or at home.

The course time-table is structured as follows.

Session 1

What our students say…

“Having wanted to set up a small home screen print studio for a couple of years but not really knowing where to start, I found the course a great way to understand the screen print process start to finish in a relaxed environment. I asked all the questions I could think of and gained some great experience printing my designs. I would highly recommend the course to anyone looking to learn more about screen printing” Rick Ogden

“I enjoyed the course so much the first time that I have just completed it for the second time. The course style is informal & informative. Sally is a great tutor. She encourages and recognises individual styles and strengths and helps when needed but also gives each student confidence to work independently.”  Rebecca Alexander

“The introduction to screen printing course ran by Sally is great! I’m a graphic designer and was looking for a way to widen my skill set and the course was a perfect introduction to a new way of printing. Not only that, it was really good, hands-on fun and engaging. Sally is a great teacher. It gave me so much inspiration for further projects that I didn’t want it to end.”   Mike Hodson

If you are in any doubt about doing this course, then don’t be – it’s fantastic! Sally is a great teacher, as she explains everything clearly and concisely and can give you advice about ideas / designs you may be considering. Also, if like me you are not very computer literate, she offers to help with getting the designs into the right format. It is a really friendly environment to learn in, and also inspirational seeing what other people are making. It will definitely give you the printing bug, if you haven’t already. ” Sophie Campion

“A thoroughly enjoyable 6 week screen printing course. From the first to the very last session Sally encourages you to try all the various elements of screen printing. And it was through this exploration that I managed to find a style that really suited the ideas I had at the start of the course. Safe to say I was extremely pleased with the final outcome.  Keep up the good work and thanks again for the encouragement.” Dale Hardman

“I have just finished the 6 week course and absolutely loved it! I didn’t have any previous printing experience but I have learned so much in such a short space of time. I feel well equipped and armed with enough skills to be able to set up my own basic screen printing workshop at home. Sally is a great teacher and artist, her sessions were super organised and the atmosphere was really friendly and relaxed. Loved it!”   Ellen Grady

“I really enjoyed the screen printing course. It was so much fun and I learned so much in just 6 weeks. Sally was fab, she’s really friendly and explains the process in such a way, it’s really easy to understand. I loved every moment of it and I got to produce some really nice things. If you’re interested in screen printing, than this course is definitely for you. I just wish the course would have ran for longer!”   Sonya Clibbens
